-Kiwanis Club of Monroe Endowed Scholarship - is pleased to award an open scholarship (called our Endowed Scholarship), and we’d like to invite any Union County high school senior to apply. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who possesses strong character, a demonstrated belief in service to the community, and academic evidence predicting success in college. The purpose of the scholarship is to help a student who can be successful in college but may not receive financial assistance elsewhere. -The Mary Blair Scholarship is given each year by the Woman’s Ministry Union of Union Baptist Association. This scholarship is for one student attending Wingate University in the Fall of 2015. -Charlotte Metro Area Relocation Committee (CMARC) is offering the Jane Osborne Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is for a current high school senior who has relocated into the Charlotte area sometime between grades 9 (after 8th grade graduation) and 12. The one-time award of $1,000 will be presented to one Charlotte area high school senior this year. -The Union County Principal’s and Assistant Principal’s Association (UCPAPA) has established and funded one (1) $1,000.00 scholarship to be awarded to one Union County Public Schools Senior who has been enrolled for at least one semester and a permanent resident of Union County for at least six months. The recipient must plan to attend a four year university, plan to major in education, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and exhibit leadership in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities. -Los Bravos Scholarship 2015 - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chapter of Los Bravos Incorporated is a non-profit organization comprised of African American men who strive to provide community services in the city of Charlotte and surrounding areas. This year we are pleased to announce that we are awarding “TWO” $1,000 scholarships to honor the legacy of Los Bravos and the founding members of this chapter. These scholarships will be used to help pay for books or tuition during a student’s freshman year of a secondary education. The student this scholarship is geared towards is an individual who is well rounded, shown progression throughout his or her educational career, overcome obstacles to succeed, and with a financial need. -Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship - Since 2003, Attorney Michael A. DeMayo has offered high school seniors a chance to win a scholarship toward their college education. Over the past decade, the program has grown and evolved to include 15 winners across 23 counties who each receive a $2,500 scholarship. The scholarship contest includes an application, a presentation that encourages fellow teens to abstain from underage drinking and driving and/or highlights the dangers of drinking and driving (presentations can be in the format of video/PowerPoint/brochure/website/essay), transcript, ACT or SAT Scores and two letters of recommendation. All entries must be post-marked on or before midnight on March 23rd, 2015 or dropped off at one of our four offices by 5 p.m., March 23rd, 2015. Entries sent by email will not be accepted. -State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Scholarship – Each year the SEANC offers academic scholarships to the dependents of SEANC members. Each North Carolina public high school will receive one scholarship valued at $10,000 for a senior to attend one of 16 constituent campuses on the University of North Carolina. (Yes! -The North Carolina Farm Bureau is offering scholarships to those attending both community and 4 year universities and planning to major in agriculture or agriculture-related fields. The community college scholarship is valued at $1,000 per year for two years and the university scholarship is valued at $3,750 per year for four years. The Gordon Hay Scholarship is a one-time $5,000 scholarship that will be awarded to one student for non-tuition expenses that will deepen the student’s experience in their performing arts related field of study.
