-State Employees Credit Union has established the “People Helping People” four year scholarship program. Each North Carolina public high school will receive one scholarship valued at $10,000 for a senior to attend one of 16 constituent campuses on the University of North Carolina. (Yes! You read this correctly; this scholarship is for one CHS Senior and is valued at $10,000 over four years!!!) Applications are available HERE and are due no later than March 31st, 2015. Please submit your application to Mrs. Devine in the CHS School Counseling Dept.

-The Weddington Optimist Club is sponsoring a Laptop Scholarship. One laptop will be awarded to a graduating senior at Cuthbertson. Students must write an essay to apply. Please click HERE for the essay prompt and details. Students must submit entries to the School Counseling office by Monday, April 20th, by 12:00 pm.

-The Rensselaer Medal is a prestigious award given to a current junior who is in the top 10% of his/her class, demonstrates a potential for success in a challenging academic setting, excels in advanced math and science courses and exhibits significant involvement in extracurricular activities. Applicants must have completed chemistry, physics, and a minimum of four years of mathematics through pre-calculus by the end of their high school career. -Union County Antique Tractor and Power Club – The club is offering up to four scholarships of $1,000 each to Union County graduating seniors entering into the field of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field. Please click HERE for details about the scholarship. The deadline is April 1st, 2015.

-Union County Extension Master Gardener Association Scholarship - The applicant must be residents of Union County and planning to attend a North Carolina college or university and be majoring in botany, environmental studies, forestry, landscape architecture, horticulture, crop sciences, local foods, animal husbandry or related fields. -Los Bravos Scholarship 2015 - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chapter of Los Bravos Incorporated is a non-profit organization comprised of African American men who strive to provide community services in the city of Charlotte and surrounding areas. This year we are pleased to announce that we are awarding “TWO” $1,000 scholarships to honor the legacy of Los Bravos and the founding members of this chapter. These scholarships will be used to help pay for books or tuition during a student’s freshman year of a secondary education. The student this scholarship is geared towards is an individual who is well rounded, shown progression throughout his or her educational career, overcome obstacles to succeed, and with a financial need. -Alpha Zeta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators will be awarding a $1,000 grant-in-aid award to a deserving young woman in Union County’s Class of 2015 who expresses a sincere desire and commitment to enter the teacher profession. -Kiwanis Club of Monroe Endowed Scholarship - is pleased to award an open scholarship (called our Endowed Scholarship), and we’d like to invite any Union County high school senior to apply. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who possesses strong character, a demonstrated belief in service to the community, and academic evidence predicting success in college. The purpose of the scholarship is to help a student who can be successful in college but may not receive financial assistance elsewhere. The recipient may pursue higher education at the institution of his/her choice. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student selected. -Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship – Good Neighbor Pharmacies in North Carolina are offering one $5,000 scholarship and four $1,000 scholarships. Please visit http://www.mygnp.com/scholarship for details about this scholarship. Deadline is April 11th, 2015.

-Union County Association of Educators in cooperation with the Retired Educators of Union County proudly announces one $1750 scholarship will be awarded to a senior planning to major in Education. Please click HERE for the scholarship application. Applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, April 14th, 2015.

-State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Scholarship – Each year the SEANC offers academic scholarships to the dependents of SEANC members. Merit-based and need-based scholarships are awarded each year. Applications are due April 15th, 2015. Scholarship applications are available online at http://www.seanc.org/membership/scholarship .

-The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1970 to provide scholarships for a deserving student who indicated a desire to enter the profession of Accounting. -Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Union County Alumnae Chapter Scholarships - The Rosa L. Poston and Jeanette B. Sherrod Scholarships provide financial assistance to deserving young African-American women who are graduating high school seniors and who will pursue post-secondary education in an accredited four year college/university. These scholarships commemorate the achievements of two members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Union County Alumnae Chapter, who have made major contribution to the children and families in Union County. -North Carolina Child Support Council Scholarship – Applicant must be a graduating senior who has at least one parent who is a part of the NC Child Support Council or a who is a client of the Child Support Program (through Child Support Services or Clerk of Court services.) Applicants must have been accepted by a NC school of high learning. -Girls on the Run – Bob Sabin Scholarship – Any girl who participated in Girls on the Run in grades 3-5 or Girls on Track in grades 6-8 and will enter college in the fall of 2015 is eligible for a Girls on the Run of Union County scholarship worth $1000. -Union County Second Amendment Scholarship - Applicants must have minimum 2.5 GPA and have completed a NC Hunter Safety Course. -Charlotte Knights STEM Scholarship - The Charlotte Knights and Piedmont Natural Gas are committed to supporting education in our communities. To improve educational funding for high school students interested in pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), the Knights and Piedmont Natural Gas have committed to providing three (3) $1,000 college scholarships to local high school students. Applicants must have a 3.3 unweighted GPA and a minimum of an 1800 SAT score (based on 2400 scale) or 1200 SAT score (based on 1600 scale) or 26 ACT score. Applicant must also be a member ofatleast onesports team at your high school or related extracurricular activity. -Charlotte Knights Healthcare Scholarship – The Charlotte Knights and Carolinas HealthCare System are dedicated to providing educational opportunities to the youth in our communities. In an effort to improve educational funding for high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, the Knights and Carolinas HealthCare System have committed to providing three (3) $1,000 college scholarships to local high school seniors. Applicants must have a 3.3 unweighted GPA and a minimum of an 1800 SAT score (based on 2400 scale) or 1200 SAT score (based on 1600 scale) or 26 ACT score. -The Mary Blair Scholarship is given each year by the Woman’s Ministry Union of Union Baptist Association. This scholarship is for one student attending Wingate University in the Fall of 2015. Applicants must be members of a church affiliated with the Union Baptist Association. One $500 scholarship will be awarded this year. Application deadline is May 1st, 2015. -The Shelton Leadership Challenge - North Carolina Wesleyan College is delighted to offer The Shelton Leadership Challenge on our campus June 21st-26th, 2015.The Shelton Challenge seeks youth that are rising 9th to 12th grades students (graduating seniors included) with a 3.0 grade point average (unweighted) or higher. -St. Matthew Teen Stewardship Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded annually to a high school junior or senior who demonstrates the principles of Catholic stewardship through their dedicated involvement in a ministry or self-diected community service project. -The Consolidated Foodservice scholarship is a $500 scholarship that is for high school students or currently enrolled college students who are looking to enter the Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management fields. This scholarship has been set up because we want to support the next generation of innovative chefs and restaurant managers. -Big Sun Scholarship – All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute.
