Scholarship Opportunity for High School Seniors
High school seniors may want to participate inCompareCards.com $1,000 Student Scholarship Essay Contest. To participate, students must be graduating high school seniors, or freshman or sophomores in college and between the ages of 16 and 21. Eligible contestants may enter by submitting a 500 to 1,000-word essay answering one of these important financial questions:
1. What is the positive impact that debt can have on a student? Is there a positive impact?
2. If you are awarded this scholarship, what will you do as a student do to be financially responsible in college?
The winner will be selected based on who has written the essay that is most compelling and beneficial for other students to read. SPCC - Scholarship
SPCC offers financial aid opportunities to graduating seniors and others who are interested in attending SPCC. During 2012-2013 academic years, they are offering over 30 scholarships to incoming and current students. The scholarships can range from covering the cost of a book, to a full scholarship for 2 years. The incoming seniors must provide the SPCC Scholarship Selection Committee with a typed essay (less than 400 words) stating their career, educational goals, and community service involvement. Smile for a Lifetime Scholarship
This scholarship through Starr Orthodontics provides braces at no cost to disadvantaged children between the ages of ten and eighteen. These children would not otherwise have an opportunity for orthodontic care due to their family income or special circumstances. 12 scholarships are awarded annually to recipients selected by a local board consisting of diverse community leaders. The board will review applications on a quarterly basis. Youth Exchange Scholarships for U.S. High School Students - The U.S. Department of State announces scholarships for American high school students to study abroad:
- The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) was established in 1983 to celebrate German-American friendship based on common values of democracy. Secondary school students live with host families, attend local schools, and participate in community life in Germany. Young professionals (undergraduates) and high-school graduates of vocational studies ages 18-24 study and participate in practical training. Scholarships are now available for academic year 2012-13. - The American Youth Leadership Program offers opportunities for American high students and educators to travel abroad on a three- to four-week-long exchange program to gain first-hand knowledge of foreign cultures and to collaborate on solving global issues. Several different organizations implement this program, and each has organized an academic and experiential educational exchange focused on dialogue and debate, leadership development, and community service. Recruitment areas and application deadlines vary, so please check the American Youth Leadership Program website for more information.
- Big Sun Athletic Scholarship
