CHS wrestler Cody Walker has recorded his 100th varsity win. Cody began wrestling at the age of 6 in Springfield, IL. He became ranked number one in the North Carolina 2A division at 120 pounds in February, 2012.
Ms. Kim Warr was nominated and selected by her administrative peers across the county for her second consecutive selection as a Finalist for Union County Assistant Principal of the Year in 2011 and went on the be named UCPS Assistant Principal of the Year. Warr has since been named Principal of Cuthbertson High School.
Congratulations to the following track and field athletes for being selected to the All-Conference team for spring 2011: Boys: Paul Sileo, Matt Russell, Darion Horner, and DeMarco Singleton. Honorable mention honors also went to Devin Johnson. Girls: Justine Neville, Deb Guthmann, Deja Burks, Liz Wood, Raven Covington, Tyneisha Walker, Haley Thoms, and Valerie Afam. Honorable mention honors also went to Megan Kiss. Also, a special congratulations to Justine Neville for being selected as the 2011 Rocky River Conference female runner of the year.
Congratulations to Amanda Gage who was the CHS winner for the essay contest sponsored by the Art Institute of Charlotte and the Town of Waxhaw, "Why I Would Like to Pursue a Career in the Food Service Industry" in April, 2011.

Congratulations to Joey Skavroneck who placed first in Public Speaking II at the FBLA Convention. Joey competed against students from all over the state of North Carolina. This first place spot qualified him to compete at the FBLA National Convention held at Disney World.
Colby Hathaway, Anthony Sgro, and Sarah Stephens were accepted to the North Carolina Bandmasters All-State Band. The auditions place thousands of students within the county, district, and state in competition with each other for a performance spot in the ensemble. In these auditions the student must perform required scales, a lengthy prepared solo work from traditional repertoire, and sight reading. With the honor of winning a performance spot in the ensemble also comes the title of being one of the best high school musicians in the state.
Danny Stueber, Mackenzie Coe, and Robert Kelly were selected to participate in the UNC Pembroke University High School Honor Band March 26, 2011. These students had the special privilege of working under the baton of world renown composer and clinician Robert Sheldon, who has composed several hundred compositions and whose music appears on every state music festival adjudication list in the United States.
The CHS Marching Band was selected as one of the 12 bands from across the country to march in the 2011 Disney World Thanksgiving Day parade.
The Men's Varsity Basketball Team finished the 2011 season by earning a trip into the Sweet 16 of the State Play-offs.
