SAVE and Scouts Partner for Hope Pantry

Junior Girl Scout Troop 2842, along with troop leaders Heather Karpinski and Kate Bishop, partnered with the CHS SAVE Club sponsored by Leah Ross recently in a collaborative community project. Their mission: to collect food for the Hope Pantry in Monroe, NC. Members of the club and troop were on hand at the October 17 CHS varsity football game to collect food donations. The scout troop, made up of 5th grade students, chose to help the Hope Pantry to earn their Bronze Award. The Bronze Award involves completion of a project that makes a difference in the community. The scouts planned the food drive for the fall so the donations could help fill the Hope Pantry prior to the holidays.

Lee Speaks to Bio-Med Students

Dr. Naomi Lee, investigator in viral immunology, of the Neuroscience Institute of the National Institutes of Health located in Bethesda, MD, visited the CHS Biomedical Technology class taught by Heather Grant recently. Dr. Lee received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2005 followed by a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Rochester in 2008. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Rochester in 2013.
