Walking Tree Travel Visits Spanish 1 Class

Luke Mueller, one of the three founders of Walking Tree Travel, came to talk to Señora Stacie Thompson’s Spanish 1 class on November 18, 2014. Walking Tree Travel is the world’s largest student-travel organization, open to all high school students. Travel opportunities will allow students to have a life changing experience in a country for anywhere from ten days to four weeks, where they will do community service, visit attractions, try the country’s signature foods, and live with a native family.

Cavs Participate in State FFA Event photo

Cavs Participate in State FFA Event

The CHS FFA chapter participated in the State FFA Vet Science Career Development Event at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC, on November 8, 2014. They placed 16th in the state out of 50 teams and 2nd in the Southwest region. Team members were Rachael Holzman, Nicole Manalis, Daniel Ruhland, and Emily Shaffer, along with adviser Ben Shumate. In preparation, the students visited Carolina Pets Animal Hospital in Wesley Chapel where they observed common veterinary practices, animal restraints, equipment identification, prescription filling, and other practices in the veterinary field.
